How the service works

Referral first, contractor second.

EmberReady San Diego is a marketing and referral service. We are not the contractor performing the work. When you submit an enquiry, the information may be shared with a participating independent provider that serves the project type and area so that provider can respond.

There is no obligation to hire a referred provider. Before hiring anyone, homeowners should verify the contractor or service provider's applicable license, insurance, experience, pricing, scope, permit responsibilities and other qualifications for the work being considered.

What we do not claim

No government affiliation

EmberReady is not affiliated with San Diego County, CAL FIRE, a fire district or another government agency.

No property certification

We do not certify that a home is wildfire-safe, code-compliant or eligible for an insurance discount or public program.

No universal retrofit package

Different homes have different vent types, roof and eave details, exterior materials, access conditions and jurisdictional requirements.

No substitute for official requirements

Our guides are educational. Property-specific code, permit and fire-authority requirements should be confirmed with the applicable officials and qualified professionals.

How our homeowner content is built

We aim to use primary sources when explaining wildfire home-hardening concepts. Common references include CAL FIRE home-hardening guidance, the California Office of the State Fire Marshal's Fire Hazard Severity Zone and Wildland-Urban Interface resources, and local San Diego fire agencies.
